Hi Didiy,

Request you to check for the webcam application in Start All Programs.

If it is not available then you can use the below link for webcam application. Request you to download and save it:

ftp.us.dell.com/.../Dell_SX2210-Monitor_Webcam%20SW%20RC1.1_%20R230103.exe

If you have any questions do reply to the same post.

It states that Dell Webcam Central has successfully installed...

But the camera stil can't display the image..

Do you know the reason behind this problem??

Hi Didiy,

I will be glad to help you. Request you answer the below questions:

(1) When you open the camera what comes up on it?

(2) Try to access camera in any third party softwares like Skype and let me know if anything gets displayed.

Do reply with your findings

Q: When you open the camera what comes up on it?

A: When I open the camera, Dell Webcam Central pop up. It show "snap photo" and "record videos" button, some effects and settings. But there are no pictures to display.

Q: Try to access camera in any third party softwares like Skype and let me know if anything gets displayed.

A: I realized that my webcam isn't working through skype video call. I can see the person that I communicate with. But that person can't see me.

I assumed that the camera itself isn't working. When the camera is turned on, there should be a small white light besides the camera isn't it??

Hi Didiy,

It looks as the Webcam might have failed. I request you to follow the below steps to run diagnostics:

(1) Turn off the computer

(2) Hold the FN key and then press power button.

(3) This initiates a test.

(4) Once this test is completed, a prompt appears if you want to continue memory test.

(5) Hit N key, 32-bit diagnostic will be initiated.

(6) Select Webcam and run a custom test on it.

Do reply with the test results.

After I discontinue the test...this statement pops up:

"Pre-reboot system assessment is completed. No diagnostic utility partition identified. Please reboot your system"

Thus, I can't run a custom test on my webcam...

Hi Didiy,

The custom test is stored in hard drive. It looks like the partition might have got corrupted/deleted so the test might have also got deleted. I request you to use a recovery disc, then please follow the below steps:

(1) Restart the computer.

(2) At the Dell logo, keep tapping F12 key.

(3) One-Time Boot Menu appears.

(4) Select CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive

This initiates the complete test again but do follow the instructions given in the previous post to complete the test.

Hi Didiy,

Unfortunately this is the only option. So suggest you to get a recovery disc by calling the Dell technical support.
