Fan noisy and quite busy on 1764

I have a fresh Inspiron 1764. The fan starts up quite frequently (approx every minute) and makes quite some noise for 20 seconds. This even happens without using the laptop. Is that normal behaviour?

Still the same issue with mine. I hoped that a BIOS update would resolve the issue. This morning I installed A06 but no change at all. After 15 minutes the CPU fan is working continuously (at lowest speed) which is annoying, and doesn't correspond with the experience I have with other Dells. And it produces quite some heat! Good in wintertime, but I am heading for a long hot summer with this guy.

Anyway, I plan to send it to Dell for repair. At least that what support suggested.

Curious to know what Dell tells you. They proposed me to replace the motherboard.

Has anyone seen this with an i3 equipped 1764?  Is this specific to the i5?

No, I didn't send it to repair yet. I was waiting for a BIOS update

I am at BIOS 11 and have updated dell and microsoft stuff, but this fan is still blowing continuously. And the CPU remains above 50C :-(
