Flash BIOS without connecting to AC?

Hey all,

Is there a way to re-flash the BIOS without connecting an AC adapter to the laptop?  You know that the software automatically searches for it when the BIOS update is about to start.  The reason for this is because the motherboard won't detect the AC Adapter, but strangely enough, the laptop still works...

So does the battery...

iirc there is a force switch command which you can use when flashing in pure DOS. You'll need to do a search of the forum for it.

Keyin the 'bios name/forceit' will do. It will flash the BIOS without having AC present.

Just make darn sure the AC power doesn't go away while you are flashing or you will have a nice doorstop.  Use an UPS if you have one.

Yes, make sure you always have power....

i would strongly advise against flashing the bios on a machine that has problems.

There always is a risk in flashing the bios - doing so on a machine that already has problems multiplies that risk.

Personally, i would sort out my AC power problem first.
