The original question makes it sound like this is a poweron or BIOS admin password - if so, there's only one way: call Dell. Upon proof of ownership you will be assisted. There IS a charge of about $50 if you're out of warranty.

Have you tried it with no password? If so, load UBCD on a CD then boot from it.
To get UBCD go to:
http://www.ubcd4win.com/
One of its tools gives you the ability to reset the administrator password. I will post again once I have the exact instructions. I have used it many times successfully.

If it is a BIOS System Password, and the machine is out of warranty like mine, Dell will SELL you the master password for about $50. Proof of ownership seems to have nothing to do with it. This is a total rip -off. Dell installed it, didn't tell me about it, and now wants me to pay for access to MY computer. I have several Dells on my network, and I don't think I will be replacing them with new Dell computers any time soon. In a word, I am POed. :emotion-39:

To recover a forgotten Windows admin password simply there are several free methods:
1. With Windows password reset disk.
2. From Safe Mode.
3. With CMD.
More dtails you can found on other sites, it is easy to find.
Anothe tip: Apply a windows password recovery tool
1. Install the program on another computer and create a password recovery disk with USB
2. Insert the disk to your laptop and set your laptop to boot from it.
3. All user accounts will be loaded, then you can reset your forgotten Windows admin password.
