I have forgotten the password to enter the Setup Utility. How can I reset it? Dell Studio 1557.

Nope, Dell is unable to make the change or erase it.

You will need to call Dell with verification of ownership; if the system is out of warranty, a standard support call charge applies.

Hi rfeichel,
Please private message with the snapshot, system ID and the system service tag, which will be seen on the BIOS screen. If you do not get the system ID, try entering an incorrect password multiple times and you will see the System ID. To send a private message, click on my name and select send private message.

If that is true, then you've only one solution - replace the mainboard.
