Hi Vamsi,

Our support site doesn’t have Windows 8 drivers for “AMD Radeo HD 6470M”. The drivers you have downloaded and installed are for “AMD Radeon HD HD7650” and “AMD Radeon HD7450 (SeymourXT)” this is the reason it is showing as 7400M series in Device Manager. Please wait until the updated drivers for Windows 8 are available or you can try installing Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

Please reply if you have any further queries.

Hi Vamsi,

I was able to locate Windows 8 compatible AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics drivers for a different system model. We can try installing on your system which might work. Refer the following link to download and save the drivers:  http://dell.to/1csS02d

Refer the following link for instructions to uninstall the existing graphics drivers: http://dell.to/11rKazZ

Once the drivers are uninstalled, restart the computer and run the previous downloaded file. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Do let me know the results.

Thanks for that, But, It doesn't seem to help me. Even after installing the new drivers the problem still there and there is no change. I mean, win8 still recognises the graphic card as 70XX series.

Uninstall the driver as mentioned.

Run the Intel Update Identification Utility: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/

Install the latest chipset available and Intel Video Driver, then retry the driver from AMD (the latest Beta Driver): http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd_catalyst_13.8_mobility_beta.exe

If installation fails try updating it via the Device Manager. It should be extracted to the folder C:\AMD

If that fails get the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalogue:

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=6470m

Add the driver to the basket depending if you are running 64 bit or 32 bit:

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=f8eff9b8-1689-42d5-b273-a327815b8603 Windows 8 AMD 64 (64 bit)

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=2c3b189b-b985-4d55-bc04-fb98ff99d2c0 Windows 8 X86 (32 bit)

View basket and select download.

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/ViewBasket.aspx

Save in a location you know and again try updating via the Device Manager.

Note Microsoft Update Catalog requires use of Internet Explorer.
