Thanks Mary G, but the setting on TV ok, sorry should have stated I am using Windows Vista still and not Windows 7 and also the system restore isn't working so couldn't go back to a day before like I usually do if there is any problem for me.  I have saved what I could onto disc, but unsure of how to save all my e-mails, saved contacts this time and very important emails, but would just like to save the whole lot and can't find it as I tried to export it to external drive and errors kept appearing - didn't make note of it. :(

Will try one more time in setting up the laptop for the tv, but have tried it twice to no avail.

Recheck the input setting on the TV. Make sure the correct hdmi input is selected on the TV. Do not return to factory settings to correct this unrelated problem. It's probably just an incorrect setting. Go through the same setup steps you did when you got the new tv. Make sure you have backups and a system image on an external hard drive so you never "lose everything." See win 7's Backup and Restore.

All sorted as when going through setting up again, decided to check another driver and hey after downloading it worked, so thanks again Mary G for your suggestion as it worked even though I had done it all before :)  One happy bunny now, thanks
