Hard drive not detected

Hi,

I have inspiron 1440 and it was running fine from last 4 years. All of a sudden it stopped working from couple of days and error no boot device detected press F5 for diagnostics and i did. The error was No Hard Drive Detected. i thought harddrive is failed and replaced it with a western digital WD3200LPVX because the model which was in the laptop was not available anymore.

But still the error is coming, please can anyone help to find the problem.

Thanks

Hi Hari,

It seems that you have already done the Diagnostics and the hard drive is not getting detected. The hard drive should get detected. Please check the status of the hard drive in BIOS. Restart the computer -> tap F2 key on the Dell logo 4-5 times. This will take you to the BIOS screen. Under General ->System Information, check if the hard drive is listed. If it is not listed, it might be an issue with the connectors or the motherboard.
