Help! Compatibility between Latitude X300 and Windows 7?
Can anyone please post their experience installing Windows 7 on Latitude X300? Is there any driver problem, such as WiFi, SD card reader, etc?

Just to add to my above experience, device manager in Windows 7 is showing 4 devices for which it is unable to identify:
-multimedia audio controller
-network controller
-unknown device
-video controller
Worse yet, Windows update is unable to locate drivers online for any of these drivers.
Please help, anyone?

Download and install drivermax, It'll find them, the free version only lets you install 2 drivers per day but it's still FREE. The only issue I have is the Ricoh sd/mmc card reader is inaccessable and no drivers are going to be written for this device, if you need the sd card reader you'll have to create a dual boot system with xp.

Same driver issues ID'ed by JohnPHK.
The XP drivers worked for the multimedia audio controller and the network controller.
The XP driver worked for the video controller, but it reset every time I rebooted.
The unknown device was ID'ed as infrared device and installed automatically. I didn't do anything to install.
I am still working on the video driver.

Hiya, just want to add that I've had the same experience as the guys above - xp drivers work for audio, network, wireless and IRDA, but not for video.
I did try Drivermax also, which works well, but didn't really add much. It installed a driver for the card-reader which allows the system to recognise it but not to access it, just as Randy3934 has said. It also provides updated drivers for a few other system components.
Any video driver I try to install fails, with Win7 telling me that it's only compatible with Directx 9 compatible hardware.
As it stands, I have the choice of two screen resolutions: 800x600 and 1024x768. I'm using 1024x768 without any problems, and it maintains that setting after reboots. In fact, the only issue I've had with the lack of display driver so far is that video playback is noticeably jaggy (still watchable, but definitely lower quality). I use VLC for playback - I didn't get useable results with Windows Media Player.
So, depending on what people intend to use the system for, I'd say that it's still worth upgrading to Win7. (BTW, I have the full 1250MB of RAM installed, and would definitely recommend this before upgrading.)
Hope that helps someone.

UPDATE:
Some clever guy has written a tutorial which uses a bit of lateral thinking to get the video driver working, and it has worked flawlessly for me. Happiness, finally!

Huge thanks to Lexxion for this - you're a genius.
[ I can live without the card-reader :-) ]
