Help! INSPIRON-N5040

I was downloading an update from Dell's website when my laptop began to make strange sounds,  I tried to turn it off but it was frozen, then it did turn off and now is dead, does not power on.  Please advise. Thank you.

Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Can you try removing the charger and battery , Hold down the power on button for 5-0 seconds to release the static electricity , then try powering it on.

Let us know if this works, Else please send a personal message with your laptop’s service tag which can be found underneath the laptop.

It did not work.  Let me mention that I was downloading  BIOS update from Dell's website to my laptop and it killed it, "literally".  Any suggestions?

My laptop does not have guarantee. I am in South America working on a project, bought my laptop back home in the states.  This is the 4th Dell computer I bought, had three Inspirons and an Alienware for my son.  Here is the service tag:    Service tag removed per privacy policy>

Thanks.

A failed BIOS update wipes the BIOS and then leaves it blank... The motherboard is dead you should have not attempted to force shut it down.

I'm saying forcing down the system during the BIOS has wiped the BIOS and bricked the motherboard. If you are in warranty you will need to arrange with Dell Technical Support to replace the motherboard.

If you are out of warranty unfortunately you need to look to ebay for the motherboard and it will require a whole dismantle and rebuild. It may be better for a new computer.

Thank you for your reply.  I don't  understand how such an important piece of a computer can be dead after a recommended update from its maker.  Yes I did forced the computer to power off only because  it was completely frozen and making terrible noise.  Thanks anyway.

Best.
