Help with Factory Restore? Dell Inspiron Mini 1012

So, I got a request from a family member to more or less rework and reset their Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 netbook to factory settings. However, there is a major problem.

Somewhere along the way, the user decided that it was a smart idea to take such a weakly powered computer, and change the OS from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Ultimate, in which they seem to claim that the computer can no longer handle it.

When I use System Restore, the furthest date back that I can get is 04/18/2013, well a ways after they had installed the new OS. There are no back-ups for the computer system, nor is there any imaging made.

What I need to know is that if there is any way to get the old OS' files back whether through USB data, or within the computer's hard drive.

Hey,

You can contact the dell tech support and ask for the restore disks. HW support shd be able to help you with the disk for free. Even if not, the OS and the drivers disk shd cause you abt $10 or less per disk from dell.  Then you can use a external DVD drive to install the OS. If you dont have a external DVD drive, check with the tech support team to get a OS Usb key, but you will have to download the drivers manually from the support website on another computer and copy it yo your mini computer.

Scince the OS has been upgraded, you will not have the factory image, so you have to do it using a external media

This.. doesn't help either. The website is absolutely terrible for tech support when it cannot even keep the information straight. Even though I clearly have the options set to Canada, WITH the correct code inserted, it resets back to United States and tells me that it is from a different region. And when I try to use Tech E-mail for Canada, I get "Information Temporarily Unavailable." ...This is really starting to irritate me.
