Help with slot

I have a Latitude E6540. On the right hand side above the CD (half the size and toward the front) a opening that supports some sort of click in, click release accessory.  Can someone tell me what that slot is called and what can go in it?

I tried looking around and found items like PCI, WWLAN etc. But when I would look to find things that would go in the slot, they looked nothing like the slot accept.

I'm hoping this can be used for some type of flash card or drive support.

Thank you

If it's marked EC, it's an expresscard slot - for an externally accessible express card.  You can install any standard express card in the slot - - firewire card, extra USB card, etc.

Thanks EJN63, It was not marked, but searching on express card I found pictures of what looks like it would fit in there. Just one follow up if you don't mind. I have what looks like a off set 54mm opening in mine. Can I also use the 34mm cards that are just straight?
