Hinge stuck on Inspiron 11 3147
One of the hinges on my Inspiron 11 (3147) is stuck so that it no longer turns as I open the screen. It is lopsided in the standard laptop configuration and it is impossible to open all the way to either the stand-up or tablet modes. Nothing appears to be broken and I did not drop the laptop. I just took it out of my bag this morning and the hinge was stuck.
Has anyone else seen this before? Is it possible to fix on my own? Thanks!

On this model, it appears the hinges are a permanent part of the display assembly - that will need to be replaced.

That is the part.

Thanks for your answer and the link. But that is about half of what I paid for the laptop, and I bought it about three weeks ago! Is that really the only option?

I am having the same or very similar problem. Mine came with a slightly cracked "case" on the hinge but it didn't seem to affect the opening or changing of the screen so I didn't worry about it. Now a few months later I can no longer open the screen enough to use it as a tablet or get it to close properly. It should still be under warranty. I would return it to the place I got it except that tiny crack was the only problem at time of purchase so I tossed the box and packaging. Now let's say I wish I had kept that box when it came in Nov since it has many random problems besides the faulty hinge.
How do I get the hinge to work properly? Dell....fix it under warranty???

Hi, same issue with our laptop. It started only 4 months after buying it.... Really it looks like a quality issue in the hinge. I will contact dell support to try to solve it...
