Horizontal red lines on screen

I have been having problems with my Inspiron 1000's LCD for a while. Some times I start getting redlines on teh screen as soon as I switch on the Laptop. 9 out of 10 times they go away when I move the screen. I know its not a software problem, because the lines appear as soon as the LCD is turned on. No problems with an external monitor, so the video card is OK. So is it the flex cable? or the inverter? Any ideas. Anyone got any links to a DIY repair guide for this model? Here are a few pics of what I see when I power up. http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010113.JPG http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010114.JPG http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010115.JPG http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010116.JPG http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010117.JPG http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/kshitij/P1010118.JPG

It's not the inverter. It could be the cable, but sounds more like the LCD needs internal repair - contact Dell to arrange a warranty repair. If you had the 90-day warranty and are out of warranty, an LCD specialist shop can probably repair it for about $150-200; Dell will simply tell you the screen needs replacement, which will cost about $500-700, at which point you may as well replace the system.
