How Do You Determine a Motherboard's Features From It's Part Number?

Hi,

Does an online resource exist where anyone can lookup a Dell motherboard part number and see which features it has, or vice versa?  For instance, checking on the Dell Inspiron E1705, I'd like to know the motherboard part numbers available, and what each of these motherboards features.  I have part number FF055, which I know contains integrated graphics, and know that DF047 also exists, which has no integrated graphics... but is that the only difference between the two?  And are there any other part numbers for the E1705?  And is the Inspiron 9400 the same as the E1705 (I see a lot of motherboards for sale on eBay that claim compatibility with both models)?

I ask, because, to put it briefly, I recently had a very frustrating experience trying to replace my friend's E1705 motherboard.  I wound up buying the wrong motherboard (right laptop model #, wrong part number).  I got another motherboard that now works fine, but I need to sell this wrong motherboard to help recoup the wasted money.  It would be nice if Dell mentioned this information in their manuals, btw...

Anyway, thanks!

There's no such reference - at least not one available outside of Dell itself.

The only two boards are the one with and the one without integrated graphics - there's no other difference.

Yes, the E1705 and 9400 are the same system.

Thanks, ejn63. :)

If anyone is aware of a way to reference information like this for all models, I'd love to know for future reference, thanks.  I couldn't find anything myself...

That's what I suspected.  Thanks again!
