Hi, for a ac adapter replacement usually is used the serial number of the ac adapter itself, is a 23 digit code that will manage the dell employee to get the part number for the replacement, in your country there must be a number for assistance or at least manage to get the part number for get the exact replacement. Hi, Does anybody know where or how I can order a replacement A/C adapter for a Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop?  I bought my laptop in the US but have since moved to the Czech Republic, and would prefer to order a new adapter from Europe (with an appropriate European plug type).  I tried calling Customer Service in the US but couldn't get a clear answer from either of the people I spoke with.  One told me I should walk into a physical Dell store; when I asked where the closest was, he told me to Google it.  The other provided me with a number to the Czech Republic's Dell office, but unfortunately all the phone prompts are in Czech, and no one answered anyway.  Both the US and Czech websites are labyrinthine in design, and none of the links seems to go to where I can easily order the A/C adapter I need, in any language, but instead seem to keep sending me back to the web page I started at.  At this point I'm seriously regretting buying a Dell, if something this simple has to be so difficult.  Can anyone alleviate this rather ridiculous situation? Your AC adapter is capable of working on Europe's electrical power system. All you need is an inexpensive physical plastic part that adapts the USA outlet plug to the European style.

If you insist on buying a brand new AC adapter look for them on eBay in Europe. Be sure to look for a genuine Dell one.
