How do I replace the lcd screen on my dell studio 1535?
I already bought the new lcd screen but unlike most laptops there are no screws holding the bezel in place and the hinges are a part of the lid. anyone out there replace the lcd panel in a studio 1535 that can give me the heads up on how to do this?
thanks

Hi Ron, I hope you check this soon. My daughter is having the same issues but the college repair shop wants to charge her 500 to fix. where did you purchase the new lcd? do you have a part number? were you able to change it?

What do you think...screen or LCD Backlight Inverter board? I have a 1535, screen flashes(sometimes) the Dell logo and the startup but it's not the usual off-white. . .more like amber. I check without video on external monitor and it does display image.

Excerpt from link below =>
"If a laptop screen is suddenly dimmer for a prolonged period of time or if the screen goes dark intermittently or permanently, a faulty laptop inverter may be the cause. Sometimes these problems can be temporarily solved by restarting but will continue to occur until the inverter is replaced."
www.ehow.com/facts_5031060_laptop-inverter-board.html
Most likely it's the inverter - but without testing the circuitry one can't be sure...........

@MiroTest, I'm leanning more towards Inverter. When I switch from External Monitor to laptop's screen, I sometimes see the laptops screen image but its color is more towards the amber tint. But usually flashes like that then eventually goes black.
Thanks for the info and link. Inverter I saw runs around $40-$50...screen $90-$150.
