How do you replace/clean Inspiron 1720 Media Buttons?

Hello. I'm trying to get to the media buttons on my Inspiron 1720. I spilled some soda in there so when I press them, it is quite sticky. However, I am not sure how to actually get to the buttons. Can they just pop out? Or will that just break the buttons?
