How to replace the palmrest (Inspiron 5100)

My 1 year old Inspiron palrest has several cracks (just normal wear) and I 'd like to replace it. Couple questions:

1) My laptop is still under gurantee, will Dell cover cracked palm rest ?

2) How exactly do I replace the palm rest, is there any document regarding to the procedure ? I am familiar with general hardware upgrade but never opend the laptop before, difficult ?

they will cover the damage if you have "complete care," if not ... they probably won't if they are do to normal wear and tear and not a defect -- although i've never seen a palm rest actually crack from normal use

you will need to order the palm rest (and whatever it comes with -- i'm not sure?) from dell spare parts.  to install yourself, go here:  http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins5100/en/sm/palmrest.htm#1084976

Contact the Dell E-Mail or Dell Phone Tech support and check your options. There is a good chance to get a replacement from them. If not then get the palmrest and replace it if you can.
