How to utilize the AMD 7570M discrete graphics card on a Dell Inspiron 14z?

I know my laptop has an ATI card but any game I play only uses the integrated graphics. I know it needs to be selected at purchase, but I got my laptop refurbished and the option to use the AMD HD7570M was not selected by the refurbisher. Normally it isn't a problem, but it has started to drop frames in rather easy-to-run games like Minecraft. Any way to activate the card WITHOUT needing to reset my laptop? Thanks!

Look at the device manager in the control panel - is there an entry for the AMD GPU under "Display adapters"?  If not, your system is Intel-only.  The AMD GPU was an upgrade option at purchase -- not standard on all models.

If there IS an entry for the AMD GPU, use the Catalyst Control Center to choose it for the programs you wish to run with it. Note, however, that the Intel GPU will always show active and primary, as the AMD GPU is solely a co-processor - it is not a discrete video chip that can function as primary by itself.

Would that explain why in games it shows that it is using the integrated graphics? I checked and I do in fact have the card. Some games, however, like Wreckfest ask you to choose a GPU and only the integrated GPU appears. Does that mean it is using both or only the integrated graphics? Thanks.

There are still plenty of games that do not support hybrid video - best is to check with the publisher of the game that doesn't sense the AMD GPU.
