Inspirion 1750 CD drive
Wnen inserting a blank CD the system states it cannot read and it should be formated when the window pops up. It never does so I do not get a chance to format the disc. So what is the issue? Thanks

Nashguy12,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
You cannot format a cd.It needs to be a CD-RW or DVD-RW.
Is it a CD,DVD,DVD-RW+-? What program does your system use to format DVD-RW's?
Try different cd media to see if that will work for you,

I have a HL-DT-STDVD-RWGT10N drive. It will read everything but blank CDs. Why?

There is no need to format a blank CD.
When you are reading to copy data to it, do it all in one shot using Roxio by creating a data CD.
