Inspiron 15-5548 with broken hinge
I too spent ridiculous amount of time being transferred and put on hold until someone said the broken lid hinge is not covered under warranty. The laptop sits on TV stand and is used as multimedia device to the TV. All I do is open the lid, press the power button and close the lid. I have a usb mouse and keyboard connected to navigate. I even paid extended warranty in case of defects. I truly believe that there is a flaw in design and there should be a fix to this. If I don't get this repaired by dell, they may avoid my warranty. This seems to be a losing battle.

They were correct in their response. The hinges fall under the normal wear and tear policy.
