Inspiron 15 558 Motherboard issue

I was just informed that after less than 2 years of ownership my Inspiron 15 558 (purchased December 2015) has a critical failure of the motherboard and cannot be repaired, has this happened to anyone else?  And can my data be saved?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the reponse.  I did reach out to Dell support and found out that it wou be cheaper to buy a new computer than have this one replaced (very disheartened).  The replacement mother board for my computer was priced by Dell at $679.00!! So I very unhapily decided to buy another laptop from Dell.

Regards

Chris

The boards run between $150-250 depending upon CPU and GPU type.  Add $100-150 for labor with a local shop and the true cost of repair will be between $300-500 total.

Local shops that charge by the hour are generally better bets than those that charge by the job.
