Inspiron 1501 HD error DST Fail error code: 0F00:0240
Is this hard drive toast and my only recourse is replacement? This thing had vista on it should I go ahead and get windows 7 and move on as well? right now it won't boot up, sits at the boot up in repair mode or boot up normal screen but neither option works. It makes a bad paper weight. There is no boot disk with this little jewel as far as I can tell.
I am open to suggestions.

You do need a new drive, yes. You can order a WIndows disc here:
