Inspiron 1501 battery not recognized
I woke up this morning and the light that indicates the battery on my laptop was a flashing red instead of green. I turned my computer on and it told me "battery is not recognized by computer and will not charge". What is this all about and how do I fix it? I have had the computer for almost 2 years. Should I replace the battery? How much is that going to cost?
Also, I tried unplugging the battery and that made the computer shut down completely.
Help please!

You will need to replace the battery. There are 2 types of batteries for this particular laptop. If you purchase the battery direct from Dell, depending on the part number of your current battery, the price ranges from $135 to $300.

You should be able to run the computer with the computer plugged in, as you would a desktop, for a while. Eventually, yes, the battery will need to be replaced. But try keeping the adapter plugged in until it arrives.
