thank u sir i hav seen them post and i was looking it all over and i wanted to be sure it will work i know it should work bc i want more ram all i do on my laptop is surff internet and play tibia so i just want more ram for fire fox so i am going to buy 2 of these from ebay hope they work
Better to buy from crucial.com instead of Ebay. Crucial guarantees the memory to work in Dell computers. According to Crucial you can only use 1gb per slot for a max of 2gb. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Inspiron%201501&Cat=RAM
While I have bought RAM off eBay before, I would take a preference to Crucial (or Offtek) unless eBay is significantly cheaper.
You can use that kit but I recommend you use this kit here (2×2 GB). It is $55.99 including shipping and warranty which makes it very slightly more expensive than the eBay ones at $54.57 (if you include the warranty).
I put the kit into my Inspiron 6400 which takes the same memory and has a "maximum" of 2 GB (2× 1 GB). It has been running happily with 4 GB installed and 3.25 GB usable for the last 2 or so years.

Having a 2 GB and 1 GB module gave the same quantity (Vista detects 4 GB installed but only uses 2.615 GB approx). The same RAM was installed in my 6400 and it read 3.315 GB of RAM." This was with the 32 bit OS. Some others have reported that they installed 8 GB and have had 7.68 GB usable with Windows 7 64 bit but I never tried that.

i want to put 2 of these in my dell inspiron 1501 laptop so 4 GB ram it will be 46.00$ for both sticks can it handel 2-2gb sticks

32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB.
