Inspiron 15R - screen dark at first, then works fine when you enter and leave sleep mode

Hi,

I'd like to get your ideas about the following problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R. With Windows 7, I have the problem that sometimes when I don't use my laptop for some minutes, the screen gets dark, but then it's not turning on again (the laptop is on, if you push any button, you can hear the OS responding). If I enter and leave sleep mode, it's working again.

I installed Win10, and the problem now looks as follows: when I turn on the computer, I can see the boot screen, but when I enter my login data, then the screen becomes dark (while everything is working fine on the computer). I have to enter and leave sleep mode, and then it's working fine.

This problem is driving me crazy :S I tried removing and installing the video drivers and stuff, but nothing helps :S

I'd really appreciate if you gave some advice.

Thank you!

if you have just upgraded to windows 10 and are sitting at a black screen for way too long .here's the problem and how to fix it. If you have an on board Intel graphics controller as well as an add on graphics card, windows thinks you have one more monitor connected than you actually have. so when windows loads its outputting the video signal to a bogus monitor.

How to fix this, firstly wait long enough so the mouse cursor to appear when you move the mouse. (blank screen with a white mouse cursor) Then press the space-bar and enter your login password or pin (yes your doing this blind) You should now be logged into windows if the desktop dose not appear after 30 seconds then press WindowsKey-P down arrow twice and enter. I hope this helps

If the suggestion above does not work, then try this

Try turning off Fast Startup...

This feature only works when you do a SHUTDOWN and then Boot.

It doesn't effect a RESTART.

To turn it off or on...

Go to Control panel...Power Options, and select Choose What the Power Buttons Do on the left.

Then select Change Settings That are Currently Unavailable near the top center of screen...

Lower down on the window, uncheck Fast Startup.

This shouldn't effect your problem, but it might..
