Inspiron 17 5000 5749 (Early 2015) DVD Drive Problem

Hi,

my Dell Inspiron 17 5000 5749 (Early 2015) has problem with DVD drive named PLDS DVD+-RW DU-8A5LH. The unit is correctly recognised by Win 8.1 Pro x64 with Microsoft driver v.6.3.9600.16384.

when I insert a DVD support, often there are problems with reading the content!!! It's very annoying!!! It happens with many DVD of mine....

An example.

I insert a DVD data support. Often isn't recognized at all. Sometimes it's recognized, the DVD directory is opened but if I copy some files the copy process get stuck and win explorer crashes... Sometimes the DVD get recognized and read w/o problems.

After support insertion I hear some noise from reader indicating reading problems.

This events occurred with 80% DVD of mine: my old desktop PC and my sister's 250$ HP notebook read ALL of them without problems.... So the supports are readable I think ;-)

-What can I do? request replacing of the unit? (I've bought PC 1 month ago)

-Did anybody experience these malfunctioning?

Thank you.
