Inspiron 17R 5737 Unresponsive After Booting
My Inspiron 17R 5737 boots normally but then only shows a mouse - none of the icons are responsive and I can't start the task manager. I don't get any error messages so I'm not sure what to try. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Turn it off by holding down the power button until it turns off--unless you can use normal shutdown procedure. Start it up again and immediately start tapping F12 key until you get to the boot menu. Don't wait for any screen to start tapping the key. Select the diagnostics and run all the custom tests especially the hard drive extended test. Report back here with any errors or if you are still under hardware warranty, contact Support.

Thanks for the reply - I tried running the diagnostics but it said that everything passed. I believe the warranty is expired at this point unfortunately. Anything else I can try?
