Inspiron 3721 wifi issues

I have a Dell Inspiron 3721 running windows 8 and have always had issues with the wireless connectivity. I have tried resetting the router, reconnecting,  turning off the adapter and turining back on.  I've even tried deleting the connection and readding it.   I've tried almost everything - looking for different settings on the PC itself and nothing, so I was hoping someone here could help me.  I have to disconnect and reconnect often.   Typically, I'll get so frustrated that I got back to using my old laptop.    I know it's not my wi-fi because my cell phones, other laptops and tablet stay connected.  The wi-fi will connect at log on but will drop a lot.   I don't know what the issue could be but it is very annoying.  Has anyone else experienced this or know of a way to solve it? I've basically just been dealing with it, or using my old laptop.    I thought I'd come here for some help.  Is there something I'm missing or not doing correctly?

The Wireless card is Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz).   Thank you for any help or assistance you can provide! :)
