Did you try one module in one slot, then switch it to second slot? That will tell you if the slot is faulty. You should contact Crucial. Their support is terrific.
Managed to troubleshoot the issue to a bad RAM module (went bad after four months!). Arranged for an exchange. Thankfully, I should be OK with 512 for now.
