Inspiron 5110 display problems

After I re-istalled windows on my Inspiron 5110 I began to notice that when the AC adapter plugs in, my laptop's display turns off for a second. The same thing happens with pluging out. There was no such problem before. I don't have any idea of what might have changed during the re-instal. Is there any suggestions that might help to fix the problem? I'd be glad to know it, because it's getting really annoying.

Hi neidyel,

You can update the BIOS and video drivers in the system will fix this issue, please use the below link to download the drivers.

Link for BIOS:    http://dell.to/RhQBPw

Please connect the Ac Adapter while updating the BIOS and do not use the system once the update is initiated and until the system restarts completely.

Link for Chipset:  http://dell.to/QHpdvi

You can check which video card your computer has by going in to device manager. Follow the steps to check in device manager.

Start > in search box type in device manager > under the video card you can check which video card your computer has whether it’s an Intel or ATI/ AMD card. You can install the video driver using the link below.

Link for Intel HD 3000:    http://dell.to/TucU8V

Link for NVidia driver:    http://dell.to/PJQbmX

Link for ATI driver:        http://dell.to/QdnKPE

The drivers have to be installed in the same order as mentioned above and please restart the system after every driver installation.

Please do reply for further assistance.

First of all, thank you for your response, I really appreciate that.

My BIOS was already updated, couldn't flash it again. Chipset and graphics card drivers doesn't seem to be a problem either, updates did not help at all.  I ran the system check on BIOS, everything was fine. Could it be that WIndows is actually a problem here?

Hi neidyel,

I am sorry for the delayed response, after updating the drivers in the system and still the problem occurred. You can try one more step to check whether the problem is with in operating system or with the hardware. Please go to BIOS page and connect the ac adapter and check the display flickers.  Please follow the steps to go to BIOS page.

Restart your computer > Tap ‘F2’ as soon as the computer starts to enter the BIOS

Please do reply for further assistance.
