Hi mathew011,

Please follow the below mentioned steps to isolate the problem:

  1. Remove all the external peripherals, the power cable and battery from the laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. This process will drain all the static energy from the computer.
  2. Power on the laptop with only the battery plugged in, restart the system and check if you get the beeps. Remove the battery connects only the Ac adapter power cable, restart the system and check if you get the same beep sound. This is to check if it is a problem with battery or AC adapter.

Please reply with results.

Hi mathew011,

Running the hardware diagnostics can help in checking if there is any hardware problem. Follow the steps below to run hardware diagnostics.

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Keep tapping the F12 key on the Dell Logo Screen.
  3. From the One time boot menu select Diagnostics and Press Enter.
  4. It runs a test on all the hardware components.
  5. If it test fails please capture the error code and let me know the error code, I would tell you the next course of action.

Please post the results.
