Hi andrei_dracea,

Press F2 or a combination of Fn and F2 keys once to enable wireless (pressing it again will disable wireless) and check if the system is able to detect the wireless networks.

You may check the wireless card installed on your computer from the 'Device Manager'. Another way is to check the wireless card shipped with your computer from system configuration webpage, under 'Original system configuration' Tab. You can click on the link: http://dell.to/Mbe3zg

Once you get to know the wireless card installed, you may uninstall and re install the drivers:

  • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
  • Click on “Manage”.
  • Click on “Device Manager”.
  • Under “Network adapters"/"Other Devices”, you will find the wireless driver listed.
  • Right click on it and click on “uninstall”. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Check the box to delete the software.
  • Restart your system and click on the link: http://dell.to/QjjZDA
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • You will find the wireless  driver under “Network”.
  • Click on the wireless driver depending on the wireless card your system has. (Install the same wireless driver which you uninstalled from “Device Manager”.
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the driver on your desktop.
  • Once the driver is saved on desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Install the wireless driver by following the on screen instructions.
  • Check if the issue is resolved or not. If the issue still persists, update the system BIOS.

Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

  • Click on the below link: http://dell.to/QjjZDA
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • Go to “BIOS” and click on the BIOS available.
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the BIOS on your desktop.
  • Once the BIOS is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

Please reply for further clarifications.

Hi..

Please help me with a remedy..

I recently took a Dell Inspiron 5521 laptop(I5,8GB;1.8GHz). I am having issues connecting to my wireless home network. The problem is too WEIRD.. :(

Some times I am unable to connect to any network ..For a while it could connect to the network but disconnects..and sometimes it lists out all the network EXCEPT my home...

I have installed all the latest drivers from dell site providing my service TAG. (Inspiron 5521,NonTouch display)..

I am using Windows8.1 ;64bit....Issue is also seen on Windows 8;64 bit.Router is Windows-8 supported.(TP-Link)

I could connect to the same network using my friends laptops and even with my mobile.

P.S: My Observation: When I am 2 to 3 ft away from the router , I am able to connect to network (70% sucess). I dnt think this is a problem as all the other devices(rel;atively older than mine) could able to connect with the same network.

will Appreciate anyy help...Thanks in advance...

Hello,

I am also an owner of a Dell Inspiron 5521, and I have experimented the same problem with the wifi card (and a lot of other people, it seems). I have been looking for possible solution for a long time, but without any success. The only proposed solution is to install the new drivers or update the BIOS version, however this solves nothing!

The reason of this is because the problem is not a software problem, I have a dual boot system, running W8 and Linux (Kubuntu), and both OS presents exactly the same problem, wifi card stops working without any apparent reason, and the only solution is to restart the OS, what is very very annoying for me.

However, I have noticed that wifi card stops working specially when I move my laptop, or some action that implies movement. When I removed the keyboard (it is pretty simple), I saw the wifi card is just below the keyboard, and the pins of the wifi antenna are almost touching the metallic rear part of the keyboard, so I assume the problem is a sort of short circuit that prevent the wifi card to work properly unless you restart your laptop.

Finally, the only solution that has worked for me is just to put a little piece of paper between the wifi card and the keyboard. I know, it is not the more elegant solution, but it works for me!!

Hope it works for you too!

Regards.

Brother, all you need to do is to uninstall its wifi drivers. Reinstall them. And thats it.
