Inspiron 6000 Touchpad Scroll is not working

Dear Friends,

I am not getting the scroll functiuon with the touchpad of my one year old Inspiron 6000. It used to work perfectly earlier but after certain local fixing up of certain things done by a local tech, I have lost the function. Can anyone please help me in this regard-

I had this happen recently with my Apple iBook. Put it in for a different repair and received it back with the original problem fixed but, the touchpad didn't work. Take it back to your repairman! If, they guarantee their work they should fix it for no cost to you.

You need to have the program that is associated with the touchpad open. I don't remember what it is called because I am not at home. But when I open it you get the little touchpad icon on the bottom right if you know what I mean.

If you know what it's called you can go to the startup and enable it. If it is not in there you have to use a program and enable it on startup.

Start>Run>msconfig>>Startup Tab.

Try reinstalling the driver, support.dell.com > drivers > enter service tag > Touch Pad Driver > REBOOT... Check for the little "touch pad icon" in the task pan (bottom right of screen), if its there, your touch pad is correctly installed and should function normally, IF NOT, you may need to replace your palmrest, which the touchpad is attached to.. If under warranty, contact dell and have them send a tech out to replace it with the free warranty part, OR-if out of warranty, get in touch with those techs that worked your machine and have them order and replace the part for you on their dime as they probably messed it up... Hope this helps.
