Inspiron 6400 Maximum Resolution only 1280x800?

My Inspiron 6400's resolution can go up to 1920x1080 in the menu, but anything above 1280x800 will give me a screen that has the same resolution as 1280x800.  Do I need to install a driver to see it in a higher resolution?  1280x800 seems to be a bit small for the maximum resolution...

Did you buy it with an extra-cost higher resolution screen, or the base WXGA? If you did not upgrade the screen at the time of purchase, it is 1280X800 only.

How do I check that?  I don't know actually, because this is a work laptop from my company and I didn't buy it.  But the resolution is way to small for business purposes...

If the maximum video setting is 1280x800, it's WXGA - base model. The BIOS setup (F2) will tell you as well.
