Inspiron 700m memory upgrade problem

Hello,

I have been trying to upgrade my inspiron 700m from 2x512mb (DDR 333) to 2x1gb (DDR 333). I removed both 512mb card from their slots (one is hidden under the keyboard) and I replaced each with 1gb card. The BIOS sees the 2gb total but Windows 7 (newly installed)  just hangs and stalls while loading.

The problem disappears with the 1gb card in place, but when the second 1gb card is installed it appears again. Hence, the whole upgrade is useless unless I get both 1gb cards to be operational, since I had 1gb total in the first place before the upgrade!

Any suggestions are welcome.

I was a generic 1gb DDR 333 pc2700 200-pin  from ebay.

Not sure about the actual brand. I think the two cards are different brands, actually, but they had the same features.

The BIOS recognizes the full 2gb.
