Inspiron 7548 running slow issues

Hi,

I recently bought the Inspiron 7548 laptop.

I have noticed that it just isn't as fast as it should be/feel.

I am a web developer and my desktop computer at work is Intel's i-3 with 8 RAM with 128 SSD and it just behave much better. I never hear my work computer and in contrast my laptop sometimes just think alot (i can hear it working hard on something in the background but i don't know what).

I have read few posts that recommended running the diagnostics - so i did it, the complete one (took about 40 min if i recall) but it found no issues.

I don't really have any "meat" here to say since all i can say is that my new expensive laptop just doesn't feel like it is way faster that my work computer, but according to the spec it should be like an Jet plain.

there was a day where i chatted on facebook for an hour with a friend and suddenly i had big latency between my key keystrokes and when it came visual - and no other program run in the background. Just 3 Google chrome tabs.

Also, as my prof is a web developer i am using Visual Studio 2013 and Sql Server Management 2014.

When i am at work i have around 5 instances of VS 2013 with large projects loaded and 1 SQL Management Studio  and also the very RAM consuming Oracle Toad client.

With that "artillery" my desktop computer runs for weeks without restarting (And it's just 8 GB RAM, SSD and i-3) and i compile and build my project like it's the only running program.

Now, although this is my personal laptop and i don't have all the above (especially not the large projects) i can't really do this stress check in here but as far a i can feel it, when i create new projects in VS and build them - it just doesn't do it as clean and fast as you should expect from 5th i7 generation processor and 16 GB RAM with SSD.

So before i call my support vendor to collect it, i wan't to ask here in the forum if it's known issues with this model.

Thanks in advanced

Yaniv

Hey ! Hello :)

I've the exact same issues ! I'm working with photoshop and it's nearly unusable.... The redraw takes forever with 16go RAM ??!!

The PC should be a bomb but it's laggy with chrome and in general.

The startup should be 1 minute max with the ssd, but it takes > 2min.

I'm very disppointed about this computer, the specs were very attractive. I really don't understand what's going on.

I really want to think it's a drivers issu or something...

Did you contact the support ?

I took it to the local retailer lab and he just formated and installed the
OS from scrach again. With the original partitions.
I think there was a problem with the first installation.
Now its working great.

I've found why !!!!

It was because of the Power management in windows 8. My processor was used at 5% all the time !

www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN152012/EN

Some of the advanced options are about proc and graphics ;)

Thanks for your answer by the way !

Ask the Dell lab (I guess your retailer should know where it is) to format it and install the OS again.

That is what i did and it worked for me.

Hello,

I have the same issue. I bought this laptop because it should be very fast, and I simply cannot work and developp with this system.

Example the same request on SQL Server :

Online server : 0:00 second.

laptop : 1:59 minuts !!!!!

I don't know what to do, all my programs failed due to timeout....

Very bad experience.

I think it's my last Dell.

I hade first Windows 8.1, and now Windows 10 and it's the same.

Any solution ?

Regards,

I have exact the same issue! it just doesn't perform as expected!

I called support, they advised to do a fresh installation to Win 8.1, after fresh installation also just too slow, I cannot run VMware workstation on it!

Its for sure my last Dell too, and I'll never recommend dell to any one!
