Inspiron 7720 Touchpad Not Working At All

I purchased the laptop today and the touchpad will not work straight out of the box.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (even tried using an older version of the drivers but it also did not work).

FN + F3 will not turn on the adapter.

I use the windows mobility center and press "Turn On" under the Touchpad section and it freezes/nothing happens.

A USB mouse works fine.

This is highly disappointing.

Hi bhuber2010,

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Check if the touchpad shows the same behavior in safe mode.

Refer the following link which has steps to boot the computer into Safemode:

Rajesh,

I have booted in safe mode and the touchpad still does not work (a hardward diagnostic scan does not detect the problem as well).

I have also tried all of the instructions listed under the trouble shooting section but to no avail.

Is there anything else that can be done?

Regards,

bhuber2010
