Inspiron 8100 / GeForce2Go / Win2k problems

I have the following problems with my Inspiron, with the latest BIOS and video drivers

Geforce 2 Go v.44.82, A18
Dell Inspiron 8100 System BIOS, A15
Windows 2000 SP4
Always connected and used with an external monitor (Viewsonic PS790)

1) When comming out of hybernation, half of the time the nVidia driver goes back to nView Clone Mode , I have have to go in the control panel and disable 'nView' LCD monitor again and again.  I *never* want to use the LCD monitor, I'm using the Inspiron as a desktop replacement!  I just want the bloody thing to always use the external monitor.

Annoyingly, the latest BIOS always turns the LCD on for a few seconds, it never used to do that with previous versions.

In short I set nView mode to 'disable' and output to 'analog monitor', but it randomly comes back to 'clone' when comming out of hybernation.

2) sometimes, when dragging the scrollbars in explorer some error seem to occur and the display resets, leaving video corruption screen (half-scrolled screen area -- not a monitor problem, graphic card garbage)

This is not happening with earlier BIOS versions (more than 1 year old) but these earlier versions have other bugs.

Can anyone help?  My experience with DELL is ruined with the latest drivers and BIOS, but the older ones are obsolete and have problem of their own since nVidia is updating their drivers precisly to fix bugs that we need fixed.

Is Windows XP better supported than Windows 2000?
