Inspiron E1505 will not boot- blinking lights info?

I have:
Inspiron E1505, Windows XP, 1GB RAM (2x 512MB)

It started having blue screens indicating hardware issues. I first suspected hard drive as sometimes it would boot and run and sometimes it would just give blank screen. Diagnostics  and BIOS sometimes showed hard drive not detected.
Now- When power button is pressed the NumLock light is solid, the CapsLock and ScrollLock lights blink on and off together for about 1 minute then all lights turn off. I removed RAM, HD, modem, optical drive- same results.
I have not been able to find info on what the blinking lights might mean and I also don't have another SATA 2.5" drive to test with. I have looked through both the manual and service manual.

Also, the hard drive screws are missing and *every* screw I checked was loose- I have never seen anything likr it- all the case screws, mounting screws etc- very odd- maybe something internally is just loose?

Any info or suggestions appreciated!

***UPDATE***

I searched the forums and found some threads that suggested bad RAM- and sure enough the computer started right up when i used only 1 module. After that I was able to boot using any combination of the 2 modules (using 1 or both modules) Strange! I am now using Memtest bootable CD to see if I can see which module is bad or to see if the cpu is failing. I suppose it could be one of the memory slots as well- hard to tell- and in seeing how much the motherboard and components flex in this laptop I would not be surprised.

One of the first steps in basic PC troubleshooting is reseating components. Anything that connects to something else can come loose or develop a poor connection. You may have solved the problem just by reseating the memory. One thing you might want to look at is the connecters on the memory chip, they tend to tarnish over time, you can take a pencil eraser and clean them if that's the case.
