Inspiron Laptop Problem
I have an Inspiron N 7100 Laptop that just went dead. No Post, No Boot. Tried replacing the BIOS battery, No Joy. Connected it and set for an external monitor, No Joy.
Any Ideas are appreciated.

Hi Greg,
Just wanted to know if there is any LED indication on the laptop when you plug in the adapter ?? Is there any light ont he adapter itself and dose it stay on if you plug in the adapter to the system. If there is a light ont he AC adapter and if it goes off when the adapter is plugged in, then there is a short circuit in the motherboars. A MOBO replacement is required. If there is not lights at all in the front pannel and teh light on the adapter stays on, Tru removing the battery and then hold power button for 10 - 15 secs and then connect the aapter and try to turn on without the battery.
Regards,

Hi Vembar,
The power supply light stays on when the connector is plugged into the motherboard. I've tried removing the battery, external power supply and holding the power button for 15 seconds. Then reinstalling the battery, tried restarting the computer and nothing. No boot. All I get is a white light screen. I've tried to run the Fn. power on test and nothing. Tried removing each memory stick and run the Fn. power button test. Nothing. Tried unseating and reseating the HDD. Nothing. Same with the optical drive.

I tried using an external monitor and toggled the computer to the external monitor. No display on the external monitor.

okay, if the lights are up then the computer is booted. It seems to be a LCD issue. U mentioned that you tried with a external monitor, but did you try the hot key to toggel displa ? i think in your system it will be Fn+F1. If that works, your system needs a LCD replacement.
