Inspiron N5010 problems
My Inspiron N5010 stopped working one day after a power outage. It would start up, but it had a low sounding beeping noise and after the Dell icon black screen would go off it would stay on black screen and it would give messages in white lettering. Basically, it wanted me to restart the computer using a reboot disc, which I do not have. I did manage to do a 32-bit test thing on it and all passed except one said that there was no hard drive found. It has been unplugged since and now even though I have plugged it back in to the power cord it will not power on now. Should I just assume that this laptop is done and buy a new one? I don't know what to do now, so maybe you could advise me somehow.

Hi windy8089,
Could you restart the system, press f2 key to enter BIOS - check if the HDD is detected in BIOS. Also, restart the system and press f12 key and choose diagnostics. If the system generates an error, reply with the exact error for us to review.
If the HDD is not detected, then you could try reseating the HDD - download the service manual - http://dell.to/1JdqgKu - remove the HDD - power on the system and turn it back off - connect the HDD and check if the system works fine.
If not, then I would assume the HDD might have failed. We can help provide a paid service call - you could contact us via Twitter - @dellcares.
If you choose to order the part yourself, then you could contact - http://www.parts-people.com/ - and have the parts ordered from them.
Either way, you would need to reinstall the OS on a new HDD. For that, you need to possess a Win7 OS disc. If you do not have one, you could order one through Dell or you could purchase one through a retail store (or borrow the disc if required).
Having said this, Microsoft have ceased support for W7 earlier this year - check this link - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/lifecycle
Furthermore, this system is not compatible to work with W10 - see this link - http://dell.to/1N2hHIt
I would suggest, you could either fix this system and continue with W7 as long as you can or invest the money on a new machine.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
