Inspiron Q15R won't boot after incorrect shut down.

My Grandson shut his laptop down by just pressing the off button and since then it has refused to restart Laptop goes to Dell screen with green progress line and freezes then starts again. 3 buttons to top right of keyboard cycle continuously. The diagnostics run fine and report no problems. Any help would be much appreciated and boost my street cred with my Grandson.
