There is an update that appears on my laptop (I can't even tell you what is is for) that is never able to get installed so reverts back. But has to shut down to make the install. I end up losing whatever I was working on when this happens. How can I prevent it from attempting the install?

Hi locchipinti
Welcome to Dell Community,
Seems like this message is more to do with a certain Windows update. You can check for a failed windows update by following the steps below ( Assuming this is Windows 7 that you are using on your computer )
1. Click on Start and type Windows Update in Start Search.
2. Click on Windows updates and you would see an option for Installed Updates and Available updates.
3. Click on the Available updates and you would be able to find the failed updates as well.
Once you are able to establish the Windows update that is failing, you would be in a better position to decide whether the update is important or not.
If there is a different update that is trying to get installed, we will have to locate the concerned software. Also if you are using a different Operating system, we will have to locate the Updates in the control panel.
