Installing Memory Upgrade - Inspiron 1520
I'm new to this and have a question...
I purchased two 2MB memory cards for my Inspiron 1520. However, I can only find one of the original slots to remove the orignal memory cards.
The system shipped with two 512KB cards and I want to replace each one of those with a 2 MB card.
I opened the panel on the back marked "M" and found one of the original cards and removed it. Is anyone familiar with where the second one is located? I thought I would ask here before I removed the entire bottom panel. Thanks. Phil

The other module is under the keyboard.

Thanks - and thanks for the link. That's what I needed!

You'll need to replace one of the existing modules - also note that you may see a 10-15% reduction in performance, since the memory bus will be run at half its rated bandwidth. If you want to upgrade and preserve the dual-channel advantage, purchase another 2G module and install two of them.

I have an Inspiron 1520 that has 1GB memory. I purchased a 2GB memory module upgrade from Dell. Would this get installed in place of the existing memory or can it be installed in addition to the existing memory? Also, before I start removing things, do you know if it would get installed on the bottom of the laptop or will I need to install it under the keyboard?

Thanks... I'll give that a try.
