Inteernational keyboard

I recently purchased a used inspirion 1564. Unfortunately it has some sort of international keyboard with symbols which i do not understand. I have tried my utmost to

try and use some of these symbols for eg: the backslash key and the #7key and the and sign all on the same key,, how do I access the backslash???If there is some one out there who can help me please feel free to give me some answers or the answer.
