Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 Compatibility.
I own a Dell Studio s1745-3691MBU which is running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I recently purchased an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless Half Mini Card to upgrade my laptop to use the 5GHZ range and speed.
When I inserted the new wireless card, my computer freezes and locks up at random times. Before freezing and locking up, the wireless card disconnects from the network.
I do not know if I received a defective wireless card or if my laptop doesn't support this new wireless card.
I would really like to take advantage of this new wireless card but I do not understand why this is happening.
Any suggestions, ideas or resolutions would be greatly appreciated.

I have come to the conclusion that this Intel 6300 wireless card was defective. I have emailed the company requesting an exchange or a refund.

My laptop works fine with the Intel 5100 wireless card that came in it but I would really like to upgrade. :(

Yes. I did uninstall and remove the old drivers. When that didn't work, I did a fresh clean install of the OS and the problem still exists. I then did a fresh install without the wireless card in and then installed it later. I have the same thing no matter which way that I try. I even used Dell's Recommended How To Install Drivers In The Correct Order which I found on their website. I still do now know if it is a defective wireless card or just not compatible with my laptop. I do thank you for your input. I look forward to more advice.

Just a thought, did you uninstall/remove the old drivers , restart and install the new one from the website?
