Intel-VT on Inspiron 1525 BIOS
Pre-sales question:
Does the Inspiron 1525 BIOS allow the user to enable support for Intel-VT (virtualization) if the machine is configured with a supported processor (e.g., Core 2 Duo T8300)? If so, which BIOS revisions include this support?
I asked a fellow at my local Dell Direct store, but he could not get his BIOS simulator to work properly. The Inspiron 1525 demo had a T5750 processor (does NOT support Intel-VT) in it and we could not find any mention of virtualization in the BIOS config (I believe the BIOS revision was A08 on this particular machine)
Thank you,
Evan Thompson

For the same reason a base-model economy car still comes with manual windows, no air conditioning and a manual transimission.
Because it reduces costs, and the 1525 is designed as a low-end budget model.

It's not any cheaper for them to include or remove the feature. They're disabling it in the BIOS and not (?) providing an option in the BIOS menus to re-enable it.
It's more like equipping a base-model economy car with automatic windows and air conditioning, but not including the switches to operate same (some might argue that a manual transmission is superior to an automatic, so I'll leave that out of the analogy).

I have it in the Bios in my Vostro 1500. It is enabled in the Bios.
You can download and install the Intel Chip ID Utility to check your processor.

It's still cheaper to leave it out so that when a novice enables it and causes problems, they don't have to field a $30-40 support call.

Hi basket628,
My CPU is Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 with updated A17 Revision BIOS.
Now i want to buy new processor which supports VT-x(virtualization).
Can you tell me which processor and BIOS version you had when you saw that virtulization option in your laptop.
Because, even though i bought a new processor (which supports VT ), i dont know whether dell supported it in BIOS or not.
So i seek your help by telling what processor and BIOS version you had.
Thanks in advance.:emotion-1:

Anyhow,
I took the risk by buying Core 2 Duo T8100 processor(supports VT-x).
I gracefully found the option of setting VT and i enabled it, it WORKS finally .Tada...!:emotion-1:
For the people who already irritated googling in so many websites about "VT enablement setting", find the procedure below:emotion-1:.,
1. Upgrade BIOS to the latest[which is A17 as of now] before replacing processor.
2. Replace with VT supported Processor on the board(in my case,which is Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1Ghz,3MB cache,800FSB )
3.Power Up , go to BIOS by pressing F2-->POST BEHAVIOR-->Virtualization-->Enable-->Save&Exit. Thats it...!
Once OS windows opens, new processor will automatically detected and will install and will ask you to reboot. DO IT...!
