Internal noise

Question

Hi, I've had my Inspiron 1200 notebook just under a week now and it's fantastic.I'm just a bit worried about an ocassional plinking type noise from inside the machine. Does anyone know what it could be?

Thanks bacillus, this is my first laptop so i'm not sure if it is,it's sorta like the thermostat on a steam iron clicking on and off,but it's only accasionally.

I assume you're talking about the occasionally clicking noises from the hard drive when the head seeks. If it is then it is perfectly normal.

no it's not.  Dell is still making a newer patch to fix that problem.
